SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19 SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT IN SAN FRANCISCO KICKS OFF 17-DAY CRACKDOWN ON IMPAIRED DRIVERS

 Police in San Francisco will be on the lookout for drunk and drugged drivers at a sobriety checkpoint set for Saturday, Dec. 19.

It is the first enforcement event in a Bay Area-wide 17-day crackdown that begins Friday, Dec. 18. Police will begin checking cars at 8:30 p.m. at a location to be disclosed two hours before the checkpoint.

Police in San Francisco arrested 121 DUI suspects in last year’s crackdown, which lasted 21 days.

The California Office of Traffic Safety funds Avoid the 8 through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
