SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT SET FOR SUNDAY, DEC. 27
BY ‘AVOID THE 8” DUI CRACKDOWN IN SAN FRANCISCO
DUI arrest totals are a copy of last year's: 31 in handcuffs
A sobriety checkpoint is set for Sunday, Dec. 27, somewhere in San Francisco. It begins at 8:30 p.m. The exact location will be announced two hours ahead.
The event is a part of the multi-jurisdictional campaign against impaired drivers in the City. It is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Officers from SFPD, the United States Park police and San Francisco State University will screen cars until about 1 a.m., said Lt. Jim Calonico of the SFPD’s Traffic Company, campaign coordinator.
As of Tuesday at midnight, DUI arrest totals are exactly the same, standing at 31, as they were on the fifth day of last year’s crackdown. No DUI fatalities have been reported.
