POLICE OFFICERS ARREST TWO DUI SUSPECTS AT A SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT LAST NIGHT IN SAN FRANCISCO
Police arrested two DUI suspects at a sobriety checkpoint last night (Sunday, Dec. 27 at a sobriety checkpoint in San Francisco, said Sgt. Mark Gamble of the San Francisco Police Dept.
Officers screened 448 cars and impounded 18 because their drivers were not properly licensed. The checkpoint was staffed by officers from SFPD and the United States Park Police.
It began at 8:30 p.m. and ended past midnight.
The 17-day winter holiday crackdown called Avoid the 8, which started Friday night and will end Jan. 3.
Another checkpoint is set for next Saturday night.
Avoid the 8, the law enforcement crackdown in the City, is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
