SFPD MOTORCYCLE TEAM OUT AFTER DRUNK DRIVERS MONDAY, JULY 5

A team of San Francisco motorcycle traffic officers will hit the streets of San Francisco for an eight-hour hunt for impaired drivers on Monday, July 5.

The team starts 7 p.m. and returns to the police department at 3 a.m.

“There are a lot of motorcycles on the road, and people often don’t notice that we are police officers until they hear the siren. It’s not uncommon for drivers to commit a traffic offense right in front of us,” said San Francisco Police Dept. traffic Sgt. Neil Swendsen.

The enforcement effort is funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The team is part of Avoid the 8, the multi-jurisdictional crackdown on impaired drivers.
